FilePublisher FAQ.

Since NOF3, there’s a File-Link feature. Why do I need this Component?

What do I need to enter in the 'Publish-Directory' Property?

When I publish just a special section of my page or only 'changed assets', the files inserted with the FilePublisher Component are always published too. Why?

I've deleted the component and the selected files are still there and are published. Why aren’t they deleted ?

Since NOF3, there’s a File-Link feature. Why do I need this Component?

When you have Download-Forms and a CGI or JavaScript putting together the file to download, then you don't have a real-link to that file. You can use this component for this.

What do I need to enter in the 'Publish-Directory' Property?

Here you enter the directory-name where the files will be placed when you publish your page. This needs to be a path RELATIVE to the publish-root-directory !!

When I publish just a special section of my page or only 'changed assets', the files inserted with the FilePublisher Component are always published too. Why?

This is because of the way Fusion handles the Assets of Components. They are assumed as 'always changed', and so they are published every time ...

I've deleted the component and the selected files are still there and are published. Why aren’t they deleted ?

This is an effect in NOF 4.0 and should be fixed in NOF 4.0.1. But sometimes it happens there too ! There is currently no way to remove the assets (AFTER the component is deleted) that works every time. If you still have a backup where the component isn't deleted, then decrease the 'Number of Files'-Property in the component manually to zero and delete the component! This will remove all files ...
